About us

Built by teachers, for teachers

We’re classroom teachers who wanted current events lessons we would actually use. So we started making them, for ourselves and for the teachers we know.

Why we built it

You know the feeling. A major story breaks, your students are asking about it, and you’re already behind in your curriculum. Teaching it well means following the story, finding sources you trust, building background your students don’t have yet, and handling contested topics with care. That’s hours of prep on top of everything else.

The usual places don’t help much. Textbooks stop before today’s events, and news sites assume readers already know the backstory. Classroom Currents fills that gap: context first, then sources and critical thinking, tied to what you already teach.

What we believe

You’re the expert. You know your curriculum and your students better than anyone. We’re not here to change how you teach. We’re here to do the prep, give your teaching a head start, and help you take it to a whole new level.

Who we are

We’re social studies teachers. We teach geography and government, advise Model UN, and bring current events into our classrooms every year. Every lesson is written for real classrooms, by people who teach these topics every day.

How we build every lesson

Context before opinion

Students get the background first, so the views they form rest on facts.

More than one perspective

On contested topics, lessons present each side’s case and let students weigh the evidence.

Real sources

Speeches, documents, maps and reporting, cited so students can check them.

Ready to teach

Slides, readings and activities that drop into the unit you’re already teaching.

Where to find the lessons

Full lessons are in our Teachers Pay Teachers store, The Global Context. We add new topics as the news develops.
